GLAZING GIFTS for the holidays
Ever wondered how those stunning, multicoloured ceramics are made? Now’s your chance to create your own masterpiece! Choose from pre-thrown pottery pieces and explore the magic of layered glazing. With Abbot's speciality glazes, each brushstroke adds depth, texture, and a splash of the unexpected – no two pieces ever turn out the same!
Cacao Cup Decorating and Tasting:
Make your own cacao cup using the traditional hand pinch method and use natural or coloured slips to decorate the outside. This workshop is excellent for beginners, intermediates, and advanced students who like cacao and wish to have a sample tasting during class. Bring some patterns that you like and an intention.

Join us for a hands-on pottery class where you'll design and craft your own custom tableware sets for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Whether you're dreaming of a cosy mug and cereal bowl, a stylish lunch plate, or a full dinner setting, this workshop will guide you through the process of making functional, food-safe pottery that fits your personal style.
Using a combination of handbuilding, wheel throwing, or blending both techniques, you'll learn how to shape, form, and finish a cohesive set of ceramics that not only look beautiful but feel great to use every day. Perfect for beginners and intermediate potters alike, this course encourages creativity while building solid skills in clay work.
Explore the art of balance, design, and utility — and leave with a set of handmade pieces you’ll be proud to use or gift.
6 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday @ $190 for 9 contact teaching hours including clay, tools and equipment.
Bring a shared lunch to enjoy, along with Clare's homemade Kombucha.
Glazing and firing work will be a separate session, paid separately, depending on the space taken in the kiln. This is after the set has dried and been fired in bisque.

OPEN GLAZE DAY Welcoming the May/June/July and SELF-DIRECTED Workshop Participants or associated independent potters seeking a new glazing experience. 107 GLAZE ON GLAZE test tiles are available for analysis.
The kiln will be fired to cone six oxidation the following two weeks, for pick up three days after firing cools.
Kiln firing costs per size of work according to the chart (to reimburse for power and glaze usage).

Matcha Tea Cup Decoration and Tasting:
You can decorate your own matcha bowl using the traditional Japanese method, using slips to emboss the outside with natural or coloured slips. This workshop is excellent for beginners, intermediates, and advanced students who like matcha and wish to have a sample tasting during class. Bring some patterns that you like and an intention.

The kiln will be fired to cone six oxidation, for pick up five days later.
Kiln firing costs per size of work according to the chart (to include loading/unloading time, power and glaze usage).
For those who are NEW TO GLAZING, a one-off $20 session fee for instruction is required.
